# Repost to YouTube

> Post Once uploads each new video from your source account to your YouTube channel, public and with the caption as its description. The first caption line becomes the title, hashtags become tags, and YouTube decides whether it is a Short. YouTube takes videos only, up to 2 hours, not photos.

## Connect YouTube

1. Pick **YouTube** under **Where else should it land?** when you sign up, or press **Connect** next to YouTube in the **Destinations** card on the Bridge page.
2. Sign in with the Google account that owns your channel and allow access.
3. You come back to Post Once. The Google account must have a YouTube channel.

## How each upload is filled in

| YouTube field | What Post Once puts there |
|---|---|
| Title | The first line of your caption, up to 100 characters. With no caption it names the source, for example "Instagram video". |
| Description | Your full caption, up to 5,000 characters. |
| Tags | Every hashtag in the caption, without the #. Each tag up to 30 characters, 500 characters in all. |
| Visibility | Public. |
| Made for kids | No. |

Write the first line of your caption like a title and your YouTube uploads read well too. Hashtags in that first line stay in the title.

## What YouTube takes

- **Short videos**, which YouTube shows as Shorts.
- **Long videos**, up to 2 hours and 4K. See [long videos](https://postonce.com/help/long-videos).
- **Not photos or carousels.** Photo posts skip YouTube with "YouTube does not accept photos".
- **Not Stories.**

## Daily limit

To stay inside YouTube's API limits, Post Once sends at most 6 videos per channel per day. Extra videos are not dropped. They show "Daily limit, retries in ..." and go out once the limit resets.

## Frequently asked questions

### Will my Reels show up as YouTube Shorts?

YouTube decides that from the video itself. Vertical or square videos up to 3 minutes are treated as Shorts. Longer or landscape videos become regular videos.

### Are the uploads public?

Yes. Videos are uploaded as public and marked as not made for kids.

### Why did only some of my videos go to YouTube today?

Post Once uploads at most 6 videos per channel per day. The rest wait and go out on their own when the day resets, marked "Daily limit, retries in ..." in the meantime.

### Can Post Once repost from YouTube to Instagram?

No. YouTube is a destination only. Post Once cannot read videos from YouTube.
