# How Post Once works

> Post Once watches the account you already post on, reposts each new video and photo to your other accounts with its caption, and saves a copy to your own cloud storage. You keep posting in the Instagram, Facebook, Threads or X app as usual.

Post Once is for people who post on one main account and want the same post on their other accounts too. You set it up once. From then on you keep posting where you already do, and Post Once does the rest.

## The three parts

**Your source account** is the account you keep posting on, as usual: Instagram, Facebook, Threads or X. Post Once picks up each new post there. See [connect your source account](https://postonce.com/help/connect-your-source-account).

**Your destinations** are the accounts that get a copy of each post: YouTube, Instagram, Facebook Pages, Threads, X and LinkedIn. See [choose where Post Once reposts](https://postonce.com/help/choose-destinations).

**Your backups** are cloud storage you own: Google Drive, Dropbox, Backblaze B2, or Amazon S3 and other S3-compatible storage. Post Once saves each post there with its caption. See [back up every post](https://postonce.com/help/set-up-backups).

In the app, a source account with its destinations and backups is called a **bridge**. Most people need one. See [bridges](https://postonce.com/help/bridges) if you post on more than one main account.

## What happens when you post?

1. You post a Reel, video, photo or carousel on your source account, in that platform's own app.
2. Post Once notices the new post and downloads it.
3. It reposts it, with its caption, to each destination that takes that kind of post. YouTube takes videos but not photos, for example.
4. It saves a copy of the file and the caption to your backups.
5. Your dashboard shows the post under **Your posts**, with where it went.

Your main post keeps everything only the native app gives it, like trending audio, effects and templates. Nothing has to be uploaded twice and no caption has to be copied.

## What it does not do

- It is not a scheduler. You do not write, upload or plan posts in Post Once.
- YouTube is a destination only. Post Once does not read posts from YouTube.
- Text-only posts are not reposted. A post needs a video or a photo.
- Edits and deletes are not copied. If you change or delete the original, the reposts stay as they were.
- It does not add a watermark, on any plan.

## What does it cost?

Every account starts on the Free plan with 10 reposts and 10 backups, and no card is needed. Paid plans repost without a limit. See [the free plan](https://postonce.com/help/free-plan) and [plans and pricing](https://postonce.com/pricing).

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Post Once a scheduling app?

No. You never write or upload a post in Post Once. You post on your main account in its own app, and Post Once sends the reposts. If you want a calendar of planned posts written in one place, a scheduler like Buffer is the better tool.

### Does Post Once add a watermark?

No, on any plan, including Free.

### Does it repost my old posts?

Not on its own. Post Once reposts what you post after you connect. Older posts show up in [Your posts](https://postonce.com/help/your-posts), where you can send any of them with Post now.

### How fast does a repost go out?

Post Once checks Instagram and X about every minute, and Threads and Facebook about every five minutes. Uploading then usually takes a few minutes, longer for long videos.
