# Back up to Dropbox

> Connect Dropbox under "Back up to" on the Bridge page and Post Once saves each new post to Apps/Post Once in your Dropbox, sorted by account and month, with a caption text file beside each one. Post Once only has access to that app folder.

## Connect Dropbox

1. Open **Bridge** and press **Connect** next to **Dropbox** in the **Back up to** card, or pick it under **Also back up to (optional)** when you sign up.
2. Sign in to Dropbox and allow access.
3. You come back to Post Once.

## Where your posts go

Dropbox keeps app files in an Apps folder, so your posts land in **Apps/Post Once**:

```
Apps/
  Post Once/
    Instagram @yourhandle/
      2026-10 October/
        2026-10-12 Fifteen minute tomato pasta.mp4
        2026-10-12 Fifteen minute tomato pasta.txt
```

Beside each post is a .txt file with the same name, holding the caption and a link to the original post. Carousels get their own folder with the photos numbered in post order and a Caption.txt. Stories go in a Stories folder inside each month. More in [back up every post](https://postonce.com/help/set-up-backups).

Under the connected Dropbox row, **Open folder** opens it in Dropbox, and the **Save** switches choose which kinds of posts to keep.

## Storage

Files count against your own Dropbox storage. Dropbox Basic is 2 GB, which fills quickly with videos. If you post a lot of video, a paid Dropbox plan or a low-cost option like [Backblaze B2](https://postonce.com/help/back-up-to-backblaze-b2) fits better.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can Post Once see the rest of my Dropbox?

No. It uses an app folder, so it can only read and write inside Apps/Post Once.

### What happens when my Dropbox is full?

The backup fails with "Your Dropbox is full. Free up space or upgrade your Dropbox plan, then retry this post." Your reposts to other accounts still go out.
