## Common questions

### How do I back up my Instagram posts automatically?

Connect Instagram as the account you post on, then connect Google Drive, Dropbox, Backblaze B2 or Amazon S3 as a backup. Post Once then saves each new post and its caption there within minutes. Here is [how to set up backups](https://postonce.com/help/set-up-backups), step by step.

### Can I use Post Once only for backups, without reposting?

Yes. During setup, pick a backup and skip the accounts to repost to. You can add accounts to repost to later, and each post then goes to both.

### Is social media backup free?

Your first 10 backups are free, with no card. Studio and Agency back up every post. See [pricing](https://postonce.com/pricing) for the plans.

### Where are my backups stored?

In your own storage account. On Google Drive, Post Once can only see the files it creates. On Dropbox, it only has access to its own app folder. Any storage cost is between you and your provider.

### Does it keep the caption?

Yes. Dropbox, Backblaze B2 and S3 get a text file with the same name beside each post, holding the caption and a link to the original post. Google Drive keeps the same text in the file’s description.

### Which accounts can I back up?

Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Threads and X. Each one connects through its own official sign-in, so Post Once never sees your password.

### Does it save Instagram and Facebook Stories?

Yes. Stories go in a Stories folder inside each month, named by the date and time they were posted, so you keep them long after they disappear from the app.

### What quality are the saved videos?

Post Once saves the original file. It only converts a video to H.264 when the platform served another format, so the file opens anywhere.

### Can I choose what gets saved?

Yes. Each backup has switches for photos, short videos, long videos and Stories, all on to start. You can also connect more than one backup, and each post goes to every one that is switched on.

### How much storage will my posts need?

It depends on how much you post and how long your videos are. Our guide to the [cheapest cloud storage for social media backups](https://postonce.com/blog/cheapest-cloud-storage-social-media-backup) compares what it costs on each service.

### What happens to my backups if my account is banned or hacked?

They stay in your storage. Post Once never deletes a file it saved, and disconnecting a backup leaves every file where it is. Read [why you should back up your social media content](https://postonce.com/blog/backup-social-media-content).
